At Heimspitz Wirtshaus in Gargellen, it’s not about a great show. It’s about honest food that simply tastes good. What we serve isn’t following trends. It’s our own take on flavour. We cook what we love to eat ourselves: timeless Austrian classics, prepared with care, patience, and the best local ingredients. Some recipes are rooted in our childhood, others we’ve reimagined. No frills. No fuss. Just food that speaks for itself. For everyone who loves to come here, settle in, and raise a glass—simply Heimspitz.

We know where we come from, and where we’re going. That’s exactly how we cook: rooted in the region, open to new ideas. Our cuisine is honest and down-to-earth, vibrant and in the moment. No fuss, just feeling.

New opening hours from Winter 26/27

Thursday to Monday
2:00 pm to 5:00 pm – small menu, fresh cakes, strudel, Kaiserschmarrn and ice cream.
6:00 pm to 8:00 pm – à-la-carte dishes from our Heimat kitchen.

Tuesday – closed.

Wednesdays
2:00 pm to 5:00 pm – Heimspitze Kaffeekränzle: coffee & cake, strudel and ice cream.
6:30 pm – HEIM.AT menu – 100% Wirtshaus, 100% childhood memories.
Booking required by Monday evening at reception.

We are open for everyone – hotel guests, walk ins and locals alike.

From 23 December 2026 to 11 January 2027 and from 3 February 2027 to 22 February 2027, the Wirtshaus is open every day!

We kindly ask you to reserve your table in advance and specify your preferred time.
Should you need to cancel your table reservation, we kindly ask you to let us know as early as possible, out of consideration for guests on our waiting list. Thank you!

From our
Garden

Fresh ingredients are lovingly nurtured and picked by hand. We love to source the vegetables and herbs for our dishes directly from our #HeimspitzGROWerei – the loving name of our vegetable and herb garden. From garden to table.

Everything we cannot grow ourselves is sourced from local partners who have dedicated themselves to sustainability and preserving nature.

While stocks last.

We serve what nature gives us, seasonal, fresh, and carefully selected. Because we value quality over quantity, your favorite dish might occasionally be sold out later in the evening. When that happens, it simply means demand was greater than the fresh supply.
